The Pleasin' Gift Baskets Story
Since Janet was young she has always shown an interest in organizing things, making things, and decorating. Her mother was both wise and sneaky, as mothers sometimes have to be, and had created a few stashes of stored presents to give to Janet and her siblings when special occasions came. Janet became especially interested in gift baskets after receiving her first one as a wedding gift. It was a nice large white basket (which she still has and uses) with several travel sized gifts given by two good friends for Janet and Charles to take with them on their honeymoon. After that, Janet combined the ideas of gift stashes and basket giving together by creating her own stash known as her gift drawer.
As a young wife and later mother the stash became essential, she could then look for items on sale and store them until a bridal shower or wedding or more often the 1-3 day notice before a birthday party. Then with the pre-bought items and sometimes an added extra token newly purchased her children helped assemble a gift that their friends would like. This collection of discounted sale items stashed away and assembly of baskets has gone on for years with many happy receivers. Many times her children would comment that their gift was one of a small few that were not stuffed in a bag. She also noticed a trend that her girls would receive similar gifts such as lotions, bath soaps, and just candy of which they liked. This put a bug into Janet to even try more to give gifts that would be different from others.
Well, one day after trying to think of ways to help bring some more money in the home she came up with a great idea. Why not earn money by doing something she likes? A light bulb came on in her head that one of her hobbies was creating gift baskets and so, "Ta-da!" she decided to make and sell Pleasin' Gift Baskets.
